Renewable Energy
Asian Development Bank recommended that indonesia is a potential $4 billion green market hub.

Government initiative have included reducing waste in the industrial sector, encouraging research on industry-specific waste management techniques and technologies, launching a public campaign and eventually instituting fiscal incentives and regulatory instruments.

Indonesia's National Energy Policy for the years 2005-2020: The Indonesian government aims to increase energy effiency, promote renewables, implement Demand Side Management and use cleaner fuels.

Estimates suggest that Indonesia's renewable energy potential from hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass energy can possibly reach 150 gigawatts annually.

Indonesia's goal is to provide 95 percent of its population with electricity by 2035.

Green Resources
Indonesia Green Energy Policy includes the roadmap & guidelines for development of renewable energy technologies for Indonesia, including the need for the related regulatory instruments.

The government is accelerating bio-fuel utilization for fossil fuel substitution, prioritizing the utilization of bio-fuel for industries.

Ministry of Finance Green Paper (Nov 2009):

THE STRATEGIES IN BRIEF - Strategy for the energy sector:
    - Implementation of a carbon tax / levy on fossil fuel combustion, in parallel with removal over time
      of energy subsidies

        - Complementary measures to incentivize energy efficiency and deployment of low-emissions
technology, exemplified by a specific geothermal policy strategy

        - Support and incentivize carbon abatement measures by regional governments

        - Work with the appropriate ministries to bring existing fiscal policy settings into line with carbon
           reduction objectives

        - Support the creation of new, broad-based carbon market mechanisms like sector targets and
crediting. Support new and additional sources of international public financing

        - Strengthen capacity for climate policy analysis at the Ministry of Finance

Environmental Technology
Waste processing law which will open business opportunities in waste and recycling management to private companies.

The potential of solar energy in Indonesia is relatively good with daily average intensity between 4.8 to 5.1 kWh/m2/day. The Government plans to build 15,000 solar power plants in Eastern Indonesia each unit with a capacity of 100 watts to be financed by the state.

GOI has promised to simplify the license process and reduce import tax for equipment used to produce biofuel in Indonesia. The blueprint for the National Energy Management targeted the used of biodiesel at 4.7 million kiloliters by 2025.

There are no non-tariff barriers inhibitiing the importation of renewable energy equipment.

International norms and guidelines have been adopted in regards to technical and safety standards.
